I can get into the convergence menu with the "Mute " and I see the red lines are way out of whack. It has been about a year or better since I last adjusted this. How do you switch between the different colored guns? It pulls up green first; how do I get to red? What would cause my tv to suddenly lose it's convergence settings? Your red convergence output IC has failed.

What you need to do, if you have any experience working on solid state printed circuit boards, is to replace both of the STK convergence correction amp IC's. These Inc's go bad in a lot of TV sets. They both need to be replace together. But look on the printed circuit board first and see if you see any liquid on the convergence board or any other board around.

If not proceed to the convergence IC's. But if you do see any liquid, or any indication of any oily substance, repair the gaskets on the picture tubes first or replace the picture tubes.

This could be a very costly proposition. You want to make sure you only replace the IC's with true Sanyo parts. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call out a pro to assist you in this repair.

Hey Clarence. Its a good possibility the the convergence IC's went bad or have bad solder joints. A quick search shows that your tv uses STK ic's which currently dont have an upgrade so would have to be replaced with the same. On some occasions, other parts can be damaged as well when these ic's go out.

Parts aren't very expensive, but replacing them takes a little skill. If you do decide to replace them make sure you get original Sanyo ic's. After market ones will surely go out in a very short time if not immediately. I'll see if Wallace or MP will do the soldering for me.
