Thanks for this wonderful article. I was about to return my monitor saying its crap. Because I use a laptop, I tend to work with my active window maximised. I use Alt-Tab to flip between windows. NO problem there, but the problem arises when I minimise windows i. They duly minimise to the Task Bar in the normal way. Later, when I click on the icon on the Task Bar to resume the window, quite often it doesn't restore maximised.

Instead, it restores itself fairly small in the top left-hand corner of the screen. If I then click the "Restore Down" button top RH-corner of the window , the window gets even smaller!! If I then click on "Restore Down" a second time, the window then gets maximised. It's almost as though the window thought it was still maximised the first time. I have solved the problem and wanted to share it.

DOSBox comes with a configuration file. After changing a few of the settings to force DOSBox to run full screen , the window-size problem has largely gone away. A decent description of the modifications can be found at:. If it's not the maximize before minimize, then click on the icon on the Task Bar to resume the window, it will show small window.

In such situation, there is no "Restore Down" button. It will be switched to "Maximize" button in the same location. And then if I click it, the windows will be maximize as expected. If it's the maximize before minimize, then click on the icon on the Task Bar to resume the window, it will show maximize windows. Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help. All programs are affected Outlook, Word, and other apps I've got installed. Looking further, it may be something to do with running full screen programs which I first acquired in the good old days of Windows XP.

These mostly stopped working when I moved to Windows 7, and then But a couple do still work. It may be these full-screen programs that are confusing Windows They never confused Windows 7 though. This has only started happening since I moved to
